Son of Gears This collection is a tribute to the age-­‐old know-­‐how of the watch industry. Here you will find some reinterpretations of the classics of watchmaking, such as a wonderful exclusive skeletonized mechanical movement that looks like the Sun, a Star, or the Edelweiss flower. On some other models, gears, wheels, and electronic parts take control over the watch, invading in the dial, bezel and case. Son of Sound The Son of Sound masterpiece is the fruit of three years of development. No fewer than seven patents protect the revolutionary guitar­‐shaped case. It will catch the eye of any watch collector or music-­lover. A real Arpa‐esque revelation, bold and passionate, with a healthy dose of an avant‐garde. Beneath the hand-­‐stretched strings, a Sliding Hour counter and a date indicator appear. There is nothing decorative about the four tuning pegs: they activate the Swiss Made Automatic Woodstock chronograph movement, crafted by Concepto and protected by a unique and patented Active Tuning Pegs System (ATPS). Son of Gun Son of a Gun watches are the first ever to contain real bullets (from 6 mm to 44 Magnum) and cartridges. Five different patents protect this collection. Carpe Diem’ ​ ​ The Son of a Gun (SOG) collection is composed of : The original SOG in steel, black or alternatively, PVD, has a 47 mm case with real bullets suspended inside the watch, and an engraved target on the bezel and dial. The mini automatic Swiss movement oscillating mass at the back is made using real cartridges to further enhance this masterpiece. The Bicolor SOG also features ArtyOr, a new, patented alloy manufactured with gold, zinc, and copper taken from used bullet cartridges, and an added target on both bezel and dial. ArtyA celebrates its anniversary in Geneva with its official debut at Watches & Wonders. Founded by Master Watchmaker Yvan Arpa in 2009, this independent Geneva-based brand quickly made a name for itself with distinctive and daring creations. Today, ArtyA is now present in over 30 countries, supported by more than 60 top-tier retailers. ​ • Transparency as an aesthetic principle! In 2021, ArtyA unveiled the Purity concept, a new, evolutionary family of movements where each layer of the architecture is taken to the extreme. Complexity that only appears to be simple, the essence minimalism – extreme, pure simplicity. • And above all, total mastery! The logical next step, after presenting three tourbillons in the Purity family: a new, exclusive, Swiss-made 2-hand Manufacture movement – with ArtyA in full control of all stages of design and creation, directly infusing it with its own vision, ideas and solutions. ​ • The complexity of transparency! Typically, the movement’s components – base, bridges, gearing, mainplate, dial, bezel, crystal, case middle – are ‘simply’ stacked. ​ ​ ​ In the case of Purity, ArtyA has turned the established order on its head. The structure of the skeletonized manufacture caliber appears to emerge from nothingness. The components interact as a puzzle of interlocking parts suspended in mid-air, functionally cohesive, anchored in the case’s metal. Stairway to Heaven Here, everything is about levels of perception, of reliefs and contours, and how light plays with shadows and reflections. In this manufacture caliber everything matters. Its heart beats at 4 Hz to both ensure both optimal precision and maintain a comfortable power reserve. Here, the system of dual barrels arranged in parallel provides a steady flow of energy throughout the cycle. A minimalist dial, in the spirit of purity, for easily reading the time off this concentrate of horological power. It was intentionally moved to 3 o’clock to afford unencumbered observation of the mesmerizing ‘Stairway to Heaven’ that showcases the escapement. All is connected by a network of bridges and gears designed to achieve the effect of a ballet of refined engineering. The myriad different shapes –hemispherical, concave, spherical –alongside a sequence of satin-brushed, polished, and sandblasted finishes, invite the continuous interplay of shadow and light. The components’ forms burst forth, their volumes stand out and express themselves in space, offering a completely different perception. The movement’s finishes seamlessly merge with those of the case, with brushed, diamond-polished, and iron-microblasted details, all the way to the screws (an exclusive ArtyA design). The hands, first sandblasted then diamond-polished to mirror the hand-beveled bridges, reveal a structured, dynamic aesthetic. The effect is resolutely contemporary, highlighted by the case-back screws (also an ArtyA patent). Prepared to embrace all the finishes characteristic of the Manufacture’s Purity creations, the hand-crafted dial – the watch’s focal point – is offered in several hues. It adds a layer of customization to appreciate on the wrist. As a nod to ArtyA's 15th anniversary this year, the woven carbon inserts on the case flanks evoke design codes established in the early days. Indeed, ArtyA was one of the very first to explore all the possibilities of carbon fiber in watchmaking. The rest is history. Ces oxydes sont des composants clés de la plupart des pierres précieuses naturelles. Une température de 1700°C. (contre 700°C pour le verre) est nécessaire pour synthétiser ce matériau. Yvan Arpa, un créateur avant-gardiste. Paris Match Suisse, Nathalia L. Brignoli Yvan Arpa a fondé ArtyA en 2009. La marque de haute horlogerie est reconnue depuis pour sa créativité hors normes et ses montres uniques. C’est peu dire qu’Yvan Arpa, fondateur d’ArtyA, se démarque comme l’un des créateurs de montres les plus avant-gardistes… ​ «Plus personne n’a besoin d’une montre pour lire l’heure. L’objet doit apporter une dimension émotionnelle, presque philosophique», lance-t-il d’emblée. ​ Professeur de mathématiques au départ, son parcours l’amène à travailler au sein de grandes marques de luxe. Il décide en 2009 de créer sa propre marque, 100% indépendante, au style et aux mouvements mécaniques uniques. ​ «Je voulais construire dans la durée et la cohérence, sans rendre de comptes à des investisseurs; utiliser des matières différentes, non conventionnelles, tracer de nouveaux chemins.» Le résultat? Une des plus grandes réussites horlogères de ces dernières décennies, avec la création d’ArtyA, condensé de «Art», «Y» pour Yvan et «A» pour Arpa. Le challenge de départ l’a amené à produire aujourd’hui des œuvres d’art à l’unité, des pièces uniques et des séries très limitées, se déclinant en douze univers différents (par exemple la collection «Son of Earth Butterfly», aux cadrans en ailes de papillon ou la collection «Son of Sea», aux cadrans «marins» à base d’algues). «Je me situe à l’opposé de la production de masse industrielle. Le vrai luxe est exclusif, rare, différent… Je travaille ainsi en collaboration avec mon épouse artiste Dominique Arpa-Cirpka, qui s’occupe des cadrans à la main, grâce à des techniques anciennes uniques; chaque objet est fait avec amour, passion. Ma femme gère la partie artistique tandis que j’élabore plutôt les concepts», développe le créateur. ​ Curieux de tout, Yvan Arpa avoue être resté un enfant qui s’émerveille et se nourrit d’art, de lectures, de culture. Il s’interroge également, en philosophe, sur notre relation à la montre et au temps… et trouve le temps de se consacrer à sa vie de famille et de pratiquer le karaté et la méditation! ​ Il se revendique «artiste provocateur», bien conscient que certains de ses produits peuvent choquer, comme la collection «Son of a Gun», inspirée par la roulette russe, alors que d’autres sont plus commerciaux ou consensuels. ​ «Je crois que les clients sont curieux, ils voient au-delà de l’apparence d’un simple produit. Dans ma démarche, je cherche l’authenticité, faire des choses puissantes, qui me correspondent. Il faut redonner le pouvoir à la créativité, lancer de nouvelles idées.» ​ Yvan Arpa explique être avant tout motivé par le chemin à parcourir, et non par le but à atteindre. La société s’est installée désormais à Meinier, en rachetant les locaux de la Banque Raiffeisen. Après quelques mois de travaux, le lieu s’est métamorphosé en bureau créatif, offrant à ses clients une expérience unique et originale, celle de découvrir la collection exhaustive des montres dans la salle des coffres de l’ex-banque. La collection est distribuée désormais dans le monde entier dans 80 points de vente et quatre boutiques mono-marques. Un boîtier exceptionnel tout en saphir L’ArtyA Purity Tourbillon est reconnaissable directement grâce à son superbe boîtier tout en saphir transparent de forme ronde qui permet d’admirer son sublime mouvement manufacture avec son tourbillon volant et un double barillet ! Following the complete reworking of the entire movement, the high complication piece has been reduced from an imposing 46 mm to a light and airy 39 mm. For the development of this magnificent mechanism, Franck Orny and his team joined Yvan Arpa and his team in a constructive partnership of skills, a sharing of values, and a beautiful creative vibratory dynamic. Geneva Days 2019: Artya Son of the Alps – Megève Edition By Sarah Lee Geneva is a special place, surrounded on one side by the Jura Mountains and on the other side by the French Alps. A winter sports paradise, there are hundreds of ski resorts within an hour or two from the heart of the city. ​ One of the most famous ski resorts located in the French Alps is Megève, a resort founded by the Rothschild family in the 1920s to be the French alternative to St. Moritz, located only an hour’s drive from Geneva. ​ This season, Geneva-based watchmaking brand Artya formed an official partnership with the village of Megève to produce a special edition timepiece dedicated to this beautiful village. ​ The result is the ArtyA Son of the Alps Snowflake: Megève Edition, a timepiece that features a skeletonized snowflake on the dial. ​ “it is an honor for Artya to partner with Megève,” says Yvan Arpa, founder and owner of Artya. “Some important members of the Rothschild family are Artya collectors and the owner of Guilhem, the most prestigious retailer in Megève, is a good friend and a great partner for us.” Arpa has been busy this winter. Tiny Purity Tourbillon Petite version d'un chef-d'œuvre La dernière édition de la série Purity Tourbillon a subi une refonte totale de son spectaculaire et exclusif tourbillon volant manufacture à double barillets. Suite au remaniement complet du mouvement, la pièce de haute complication a été réduite d'un imposant 46 mm à un léger et aérien 39 mm. Pour le développement de ce magnifique mouvement, Franck Orny et son équipe ont rejoint Yvan Arpa dans un partenariat constructif de compétences, un partage de valeurs, et une belle dynamique vibratoire créative. Purity Tourbillon 46 mm Tiny Purity Tourbillon 39 mm 7 mm, c'est la réduction que le Tourbillon Purity a subi pour devenir le chef-d'œuvre qu'est la Tiny Purity Tourbillon. Pour rendre cela possible, le cadran a été déplacé à 3 heures avec un affichage entièrement squeletté. C'est sous ce cadran moderne que nous retrouvons le double barillet monté en parallèle. Eux aussi ont su conserver leur taille d'origine pour maintenir une réserve de marche exceptionnelle de 72 heures. Un concentré d'innovation Malgré cette réduction drastique de la taille du boîtier, la cage du tourbillon reste inchangée pour imposer davantage son diamètre de 17 mm, 44% du volume total de la pièce. L'effet du tourbillon qui se dégage de cette pièce exceptionnelle est décuplé. Il bénéficie maintenant d’un réglage traditionnel avec un piton fixe qui vient remplacer l’entièreté de sa raquetterie. La cage du tourbillon à elle été entièrement anglée à la main avec des finitions exceptionnelles. Des modifications jusque dans les moindres détails avec de nouveaux Incabloc et balancier à masselottes.
